What PD happens in your workplace? What strategies does your organization have in place to encourage development, change and innovation?

It’s an Information Explosion Age, multifarious information around our life. Most of useful Information must be well organized in order to permit understanding, access, synthesis, analysis, and communication. Getting through the different ways such as collection, purchase and transfer from other museums, Guangdong museum has possessed more than 160.000 exhibits which contain nearly 130,000 artifacts and approximately 30,000 nature resources. Meanwhile, the museum either collects ten thousands of books referring the history and art.

I ever worked in the Guangdong museum. I’m luck to experience a special time that the museum moves from old construction to new construction. During the particular time, there are many changes happened in the museum in order to provide clients the better services.

Based on the characters of Guangdong museum, the most suitable model is the cultural innovation model. Obviously, the museum environment of yesterday was very different from the emerging computer-supported and highly-technical environment in museums today. The Guangdong museum offers an integrated environment for clients to figure out the knowledge regarding the Guangdong history, Guangdong nature resources and work of arts, which is accumulated, analyzed, and distributed by information professionals.
Before I talk about the change in the Guangdong museum, I need to give some explanations for why people come to museum and different types of tourists. It’s will helpful for us to understand these changes well.  

Why do people go to museum?
It’s universally acknowledged that museum-going is a leisure-time activity. As a leisure-time activity, museum-going is one of many activities that serve our need for "personal self-definitions and agendas for development".
